Harrogate Spring Water expansion into public woodland
Harrogate Spring Water (est. 2002), owned by multi-national corporation Danone, have reverted to 2017 outline planning to expand their plastic bottle plant and destroy Rotary Wood. 4 acres of deciduous woodland were planted (2005) by the community, including school children, partly to tackle ‘climate Designated Asset of Community Value; well used and loved by local residents.
- Connectivity between North and South woods, supporting biodiversity.
- Development is not in line with the Government climate emergency declaration.
- Not in line with Harrogate Borough Council’s own Carbon Reduction Strategy, Biodiversity Action Plan, Habitat Action Plan Woodland, Species Action Plan Bats, or the Tree and Woodland Policy change.
